I am a mother of two beautiful girls. I live in the woods on an ancient estate in the north east of scotland, that was bequeathed by Henry 8th. I studied film, and I have a passion for beauty and colour.
Conscious Creativity means...
Grabbing the paint, canvas, camera, needle and thread as the beauty unfolds itself before me or in my minds eye, and getting it out or captured before I miss the tide.
Isadora Duncan, the mother of modern dance, once said, " In this place, you were once wild. Don't let them tame you" I wear a bangle with this inscription on it.
My vision of the future:
To capture beauty. To try to stop it, in that moment, so that it can be treasured forever. To bring that beauty into peoples consciousness that would not normally see it, as they are too wrapped up in greyness (an easy thing place to be in, in the north east of scotland) I love colour, I want to fill my life, and others with vibrancy.
I am really good at:
I am still learning. But I think I am good at keeping it simple. And in my filming, I have a good eye for composition.
I love to dance, especially ballet. I love the discipline of it, and the results you get when you finally figure out how to do a certain step. I love the feeling of my toes hurting when I take off my pointe shoes, I know that I have worked hard. Or to look in the mirror in the studio and suddenly recognise that person on one leg, dancing gracefully......is me!
I could use help with:
Textures, and how to create them in my paintings. I need to learn how to overlap my paint, without messing it up.
To be more confident in my artistic expression. We Scots are not brought up to be self confidant. I want to change that, for my sake, and my children's.
Tools I use...
I like to use lots of textures. I use yarn, shells, stones, linen, and buttons on my canvas'. For my filming, I use a canon HD camera, I love the simplicity of it, and the great lense. Oh, and ballet shoes. The more worn and tatty the better!
