Profile Information

About Me:
home is here & now. total vivid presence. i'm alive so that i can make art, love hard & effect complete liberation for myself & all sentient beings. interested in all possible applications of permaculture to environment, conversation, community, the movement of the body. interested in sexy, committed, confident works of art & science & the people who make them. interested in fulfilling the responsibility of the artist to chase down the visions. taking each of the good works i dream about & going step by step to realize each one completely in its time.
Conscious Creativity means...
the activation of true will. understanding & love. getting married to reality, to quote a smart lady.
My vision of the future:
a floating school like a floating world, which grows out of the city, connects kids and families with adults teaching the thing they're passionate about, mentoring, apprenticeships, service learning, innovative curriculum which emerges out of collaboration with the kids, & the kind of documentation which will make it possible to offer all discovery to whoever wants to teach it or repeat it for themselves.
a flying dance theater.
a magical arts academy for gifted people, to provide both guidance in skillbuilding and community for people who often find themselves misunderstood.
and a few other things.

this is close to my heart:

"AS LONG AS NO Stalin breathes down our necks, why not make some art in the service of . . . an insurrection?

Never mind if it's "impossible." What else can we hope to attain but the "impossible"? Should we wait for someone else to reveal our true desires?

If art has died, or the audience has withered away, then we find ourselves free of two dead weights. Potentially, everyone is now some kind of artist--& potentially every audience has regained its innocence, its ability to become the art that it experiences.

Provided we can escape from the museums we carry around inside us, provided we can stop selling ourselves tickets to the galleries in our own skulls, we can begin to contemplate an art which re-creates the goal of the sorcerer: changing the structure of reality by the manipulation of living symbols (in this case, the images we've been "given" by the organizers of this salon--murder, war, famine, & greed).

We might now contemplate aesthetic actions which possess some of the resonance of terrorism (or "cruelty," as Artaud put it) aimed at the destruction of abstractions rather than people, at liberation rather than power, pleasure rather than profit, joy rather than fear. "Poetic Terrorism." Our chosen images have the potency of darkness--but all images are masks, & behind these masks lie energies we can turn toward light & pleasure.

For example, the man who invented aikido was a samurai who became a pacifist & refused to fight for Japanese imperialism. He became a hermit, lived on a mountain sitting under a tree..

One day a former fellow-officer came to visit him & accused him of betrayal, cowardice, etc. The hermit said nothing, but kept on sitting--& the officer fell into a rage, drew his sword, & struck. Spontaneously the unarmed master disarmed the officer & returned his sword. Again & again the officer tried to kill, using every subtle kata in his repertoire--but out of his empty mind the hermit each time invented a new way to disarm him.

The officer of course became his first disciple. Later, they learned how to dodge bullets.

We might contemplate some form of metadrama meant to capture a taste of this performance, which gave rise to a wholly new art, a totally non-violent way of fighting--war without murder, "the sword of life" rather than death.

A conspiracy of artists, anonymous as any mad bombers, but aimed toward an act of gratuitous generosity rather than violence--at the millennium rather than the apocalypse--or rather, aimed at a present moment of aesthetic shock in the service of realization & liberation.

Art tells gorgeous lies that come true.

Is it possible to create a SECRET THEATER in which both artist & audience have completely disappeared--only to re-appear on another plane, where life & art have become the same thing, the pure giving of gifts?

I am really good at:
choreography, generating ideas, writing, making music, making lovely things with my hands out of fabric paint wood metal stone plastic paper plaster & Whatever Else, handling cameras both video and still, dance (vertical & grounded), reading deeply and offering solid constructive critique, learning, organizing groups, teaching people of all ages, holding a body in my hands and inviting hidden things to the surface, fumbling around in other languages and learning very fast, traveling to new places, moving fast and changing direction midstream, listening to the inner heart.
I could use help with:
organizing from concept through action to result, understanding self promotion in such a way that it doesn't bug me out at all, generating comfortable amounts of money by dharmic means, maintaining momentum, speaking in front of hundreds of people at once, pitching effectively, finding funding from the sources that be, a better understanding of computer & internet technology. and general encouragement is always appreciated :p
Tools I use...
WRITING. i've kept a journal since i was 14. moving and focusing qi in lots of different ways, according to needs & wants. bodywork (craniosacral, shiatsu, svedish, deep tissue, reiki, energetic balancing & nourishment with crystals, breath-based flexibility & strength training), open dialogue, the I Ching, tarot, music, movement, writing, witnessing, zazen and vipasyana.
I am looking for (services):
other educators interested in forging a new path for education for young people and their families. web designers who'd walk me through the process of making one for the first time. video editors who'd enjoy giving some guidance and wouldn't mind the occasional entertaining middle of the night phone call with questions. people who are wonderful at developing film and would do so for the barter of their choice. and of course artists who want to play...
I am offering (services):

Hi Pamela,

Kate McCallum suggested to contact c3 members who live somewhat close to me. I am inviting you to participate in my creative PhD experiment. Did you ever want to just let go totally and not do anything and let life (qi) do all the moving? My experiment is to release stress and tension in the most fundamental way: place the body in the most precise comfortable position every devised (according to my research) and qi is aligned without effort, then ready to fly after! Look at my profile. If you are interested you can schedule ONE HOUR ONE TIME in my Santa Monica office. Details to be done by phone: Email your number or call 310-399-8982.

Every single cell, eternal - eternally connected to the whole of Existence - this very moment, not static - absolutely dynamic - "mutable, malleable reality" is our supreme navigation, from within its very fibers.
Love you
